DAY 3: NON-TRADITIONAL BACKGROUNDS AND THE LEGAL PROFESSION

This week I will be sharing a video a day with the aim of showing aspiring paralegals, solicitors, and barristers how others before them have made it into the profession!

Today's video is by Jordan Lewis (a Paralegal Apprentice at DAC Beachcroft)

Jordan has shared an in-depth insight into the Apprenticeship route into the legal profession, outlining the distinction between the two-year Paralegal Apprenticeship and the six-year Solicitors Apprenticeship which can both be applied for during year 13 or afterwards.

I hope that sharing experiences such as Jordan’s will highlight that there are other routes into the profession, besides university!

Jordan’s 2 pieces of advice:

1. “You need to be motivated, dedicated and hardworking” to manage working and studying for the apprenticeships.

2. "Do not miss the application window if you are interested in Apprenticeships which opens from November – March.” Jordan suggests you take a look at notgoingtouni.co.uk or check out law firm websites!

Thank you, Jordan, for agreeing to be part of the project!

If, after watching the video you have any questions for myself or Jordan, feel free to reach out!

Please watch and leave comments with any questions you may have and share so as many people as possible can benefit from this project!
