Mayor Frank Curran has so designated by official proclamation; someone should have told the surf. It wasn’t exactly up for the event today north of Crystal Pier—but nevertheless—some 600 surfers are hanging ten in the Western Regional Championships—due to wind up tomorrow. Competition crowning the Pacific Beach Aquafair include individual surfing, tandem, club events, and paddling contests. Trophies will be awarded in each event. Among the teams on hand is the Windansea Surf Club—reputed to hold more surfing titles than any other such group in the world. A happy day for “hot curl.”
