In this video JPT Coach and Virtual Mentor Brody Boese gives you some tips on the best way to stay warm and comfortable when you’re out hunting and exploring during the colder months.
7 great tips on how to stay warm and comfortable when those temperatures drop and especially when you’ll be spending some time sitting in a stand or even headed out on the ice for long periods of time.

Tip 1 -Bring cardboard - Placing a piece of cardboard underneath your feet will block out the cold and prevent it from burrowing through your boot sole.

Tip 2 - The right laying is so important- Build layers and then put on your fleece and jackets/hunting clothing. Also wear the right socks – cotton stockings are never a good idea in cold temps. Wool or fleece socks are better options.

Tip 3 – Having warm feet starts with good dry boots when you head outdoors. Something new Brody tried out is an insulated booth from ArcticSheild. We get a sneak peek at what makes them a good option to keep your toes toasty without having to wear big bulky boots walking into the deer stand.

Tip 4 - Jacket/bibs. When it comes to picking out the right late season gear there are a ton of different brands to choose from, but you need gear that fits your body size and is both comfortable and warm. There are several reputable companies offering quality gear, and one that offers youth sized gear is Arctic Shield, and Brody chatted with them about the gear.

Tip 5- Heat Packs
Brody said he never goes into the woods without heat packs. He said he keeps them in his jacket pockets, gloves, boots or around his body. They always are a big part to keeping him warm.

Tip 6 Eat the Right Food
Brody recommends you consume protein or even hot soup to keep warm. Healthy snacks that give you energy include trail mix with nuts and dried berries.

Tip 7 Staying Hydrated
Consuming warm liquid throughout the day will help keep you warm and keep you from hydrated, and will help warm you from the inside out.Brody likes to bring hot chocolate to keep warm. But says that even juice packs or bottles of water that you store in an inside pocket near your body are a good option to stay hydrated.
