BobBlast 342 - "How I Use Luminous Colors"
Welcome back to another BobBlast!

Thanks for all your comments and questions about Painting with Metallic Gold Paint! You also had questions about the other luminous paints… also known as Fluorescents! So, that is the topic of this week's BobBlast: How I Use Luminous Colors.

Luminous paints historically have had a bad reputation. Used by themselves, they tend to have no permanency, which means these colors may eventually fade, in time. Just remember, technology has gotten better -- the experts at Holbein Artists Paints gave me good technical advice - when mixed in with other acrylic paints - the luminous paints will kick up a color in surprising ways!

For instance, when I add the Holbein Luminous Opera (hot pink) to Ultramarine Blue, the color turns into another favorite of mine… Periwinkle! I will also use the luminous colors to just add a spot of importance - just to kick it up a bit. I use luminous colors in everything. Look at the video to see some ways I use the luminous colors!

Sometimes I use luminous colors all over the surface. Some colors pop through when I scrape the surface - which surprises and pleases me!

Holbein conveniently has a set of six Heavy Body Acrylic Colors in Luminous Rose, Opera, Red, Orange, Yellow and Lemon. They are NOT SUBTLE COLORS and that's one reason why I like to paint with them. These brilliant colors are not for the faint of heart - but instead, challenge the strong, creative types… like you! I use the luminous colors for the FUN of it!

Luminous Opera! You turn me on!
