Here is my version of my most favourite Memphis Minnie Song 'Bumble Bee'. I love Memphis Minnie. She was a wonderful singer, a skilful guitarist who beat the likes of Tampa Red and Big Bill Broonzy in guitar duels in the 1930's, and a prolific songwriter with tracks including ‘When the Levee Breaks’ (‘borrowed’ by Led Zeppelin) and the saucy ‘My Butcher Man’.

But Bumble Bee is special because it was released on Columbia records after they scouted her playing on Beale Street in 1929 at a time where 'female guitar blues' was somewhat of a rarity. She was so influential, and yet Minnie was buried in an unmarked grave until in 1996 when Bonnie Raitt purchased and erected a headstone for her...

So to treasure and celebrate Memphis Minnie here is my version of her song with Will Wilde on harmonica, from my new album Live At Brighton Road, a VizzTone Label release, which can be pre-ordered here - https://lnk.to/wildelive
