Paramparagat krishi vikas yojana helped Mr. Sarbeshwar Mohanty in accelerating the organic farming activities though he had already started his own methods of organic farming. Mr. Mohanty was also selected as a Lead Resource Person in paramparagat krishi vikas yojana. He started first with paddy cultivation in organic method. Then it was extended to pulses and vegetables also. He mainly used jivamrut. But Mr. Sarbeshwar Mohanty developed his own method of enriched jivamrut by adding bioculture with jivamrut. He challenges that there will be no reduction in yield in comparison with chemical / conventional farming even in first year of organic farming but the organic farmer has to adopt the right approach in organic farming. He applies enriched jivamrut 3 to 4 times in paddy. Yield is always increased when cultivated in organic way but with proper methods. He enriches jivamrut by adding azospirrilum(for paddy) / azotobacter( for other crops), PSB, Potash Solubilising Bacteria, Trichoderma and Pseudomonas. He uses 200 liters of tank to prepare Jivamrut. He adds 20 liters of cow urine+ 20 kilograms of cow dung+2 kilograms of pulses dust+ 2 kilograms of jaggery+ 2 kilograms of chemical free soil to prepare normal Jivamrut. He also suggest to prepare condensed Jivamruta if farm is far away from the production center. He cultivates Dhanicha / sesbania every year and mulches in the paddy field prior to transplanting. Mr. Mohanty also transplants paddy in modified SRI method. How grows paddy nursery in portrays and polythene sheets. He transplants paddy seedlings at 11 to 12 days stage when plants are 1 to 2 leaf stage. Weeding expense is reduced due to softness of the soil. Earthworm activity is also increased in the soil. He mainly uses Handikhata and brahmastra in a regular interval to control insect attack in paddy. He also uses light traps, bracon cards, pheromone traps and trichocards chilonis to control paddy insects. He has also developed his own method of preparing organic inputs to control caseworm, leaf folder and cutworm. He is controlling ear head bug / gundhi bug of paddy by using poultry bird’s rejected intestine part. To control BPH of paddy he uses 15 kilograms of rice bran mixed with 3 litres of Kerosene and distributed in 150 numbers of use and trough glasses. He keeps these 150 glasses in 1 acre of land. Holes are made under the glasses if chances of rainfall is there. He is using fresh cow dung and cow urine to control bacterial leaf blight, root rot and blast in paddy. He is using Datura leaf and cow urine to control of Sheath blight of paddy. He is using 5% solution of bordeaux mixture to control neck blast and grain blast. His cultivation expense is reduced by adopting organic method and profit is increased. He is using yellow sticky traps, agniastra and brahmastra for vegetables additionally. He is also modifying the doses and application frequency for vegetable cultivation. He is using lures and also banana+ granular pesticide to control fruit borers in vegetables. Waste decomposer is added to all other organic inputs to increase efficacy of the inputs.
