Hiking the beautiful, scenic trails around Valens Lake. The air was crisp, and a thin layer of ice was forming on the water. A great day for a hike!

Valens Lake is a man-made reservoir built to supplement summer flow through the Spencer Creek system during dry seasons, provide modest flood control, and allow public outdoor recreation.

The 300-hectare paradise features ten kilometres of hiking trails, a 300-metre wetland boardwalk, and even an observation tower with panoramic views of the surrounding forests and lake.

There are over 1000 picnic tables scattered throughout the scenic landscape and 225 campsites available for year-round camping.

Explore Valens Lake Conservation Area by boat, either kayaking, canoeing or stand-up paddle boarding, or go fishing for northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish.

During the beautiful summer days, go swimming or sunbathing on the natural sandy beach. Just keep in mind that there are no lifeguards.

I'm a Canadian guy sharing my passion for the great outdoors. Exploring as many conservation areas, parks, and natural spaces as possible. I hope that by sharing these places, I will inspire others to explore them.
