Basic Concepts of The Effects of Electric Current || SSC Class 10 Science

What is an electric charge?
The flow of electrons per unit time through the conductor is called as electric charge.
The unit of electric charge is Coulomb and denoted by (C).
Electric charge (Q) = flow of charge/time taken
Q = e/t

What is an electric current?
The flow of charge per unit time through the conductor is called as electric current.
The unit of electric current is Ampere and denoted by (A).
Electric current (I) = flow of charge/time taken
I = Q/t
1A = 1C/1sec

What is a conductor?
A conductor, or electrical conductor, is a substance or material that allows electricity to flow through it.

Conductors are 4 types?
There are four types of conductors, namely, good conductors, semiconductors, resistors and non-conductors. Non-conductors are also termed as insulators.

Examples
Good conductors like iron, copper, gold, silver, alluminium, etc.

Semiconductors like silicon, germanium, gallium, etc.

Bad conductors like wood, plastic, glass, rubber, etc

What is Ohm's law?
Ohm's law states that the voltage or potential difference between two points is directly proportional to the current or electricity passing through the resistance, and directly proportional to the resistance of the circuit. The formula for Ohm's law is V=IR.
