My interview session with Imomos Tulagha (Momos Tula) a fashion designer and now a new recipient of the UK Global Talent Visa in Arts and Culture.

Here's a brief overview of the visa.

The United Kingdom Global Talent visa is a program designed to attract highly skilled professionals in the fields of science, engineering, medicine, humanities, digital technology, and the arts and culture to the UK. If you are an artist or cultural professional seeking to apply for the Global Talent visa, here are the steps you should follow:

Check if you are eligible: The first step in applying for the Global Talent visa is to ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria. You must be a recognized leader, emerging leader, or have the potential to become a leader in your field.

Obtain an endorsement: The next step is to secure an endorsement from a recognized UK endorsing body. There are several endorsing bodies for the arts and culture sector, such as Arts Council England, the British Film Institute, and the Royal Society of Literature. Each endorsing body has its own criteria for assessing applicants, so be sure to carefully review their requirements and submit a strong application that demonstrates your talent, achievements, and potential.

Gather supporting documents: Once you have secured an endorsement, you will need to gather supporting documents to include in your visa application. This may include your passport, evidence of your qualifications, proof of your work experience, a portfolio of your work, and any other relevant documentation.

Apply for the visa: You can apply for the Global Talent visa online through the UK government’s visa application service. You will need to pay the visa fee and provide your biometric information (such as fingerprints and a photograph) as part of the application process.

Attend a biometric appointment: After submitting your visa application, you will need to attend a biometric appointment at a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) center. During the appointment, your fingerprints and photograph will be taken, and you will be asked to provide any additional documents that were not submitted with your application.

Wait for a decision: After your biometric appointment, you will need to wait for a decision on your visa application. The processing time can vary depending on your location and the volume of applications being processed, but you can check the current processing times on the UK government’s website.

If your application is successful, you will be granted a Global Talent visa that allows you to live and work in the UK for up to five years. After five years, you may be eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) and eventually British citizenship.
