I bought this Bernardo Profi 900 lathe to use it in my own workshop. I bought a new lathe, because I wanted a lathe that worked right away, but it turned out the Bernardo lathe needed work just to be able to start using it.
Some things are quite good on the lathe, other things are terrible, in this video I will do my best to show both the good stuff and the bad stuff.
Within the first couple of minutes some of the video is low quality, sorry for this, it is only a very short time, where I have been using my smartphone for recording.
This is my personal experience, I know other Bernardo users may have different experiences, otherwise the brand surely would not have survived, but the truth is, I wish I had bought another brand and stayed away from Bernardo.
In my personal opinion this lathe is a long way from living up to Bernardo promises, maybe I was unlucky and got the worst lathe they have ever made, but I am left with something that needs a lot of work, I would have been better of buying a used lathe, at least I could have tested it, before I bought it.
If you are considering buying a Bernardo lathe, please see the video before you make up your mind, you might not be unlucky like me, but you should know the risk you are taking.
I hope you enjoy the video, take care.
25/8-23: Correction, some of the grinding noise was coming from the change gears in front, it reduced the noise somewhat, when I adjusted the backlash, I was running the lathe as it came. I think the gearbox is better, than I give it credit for in the video, but still not a silent lathe at all.
