This video continues the series on deep learning in chess by asking a very simple question: "Why are we generally adviced to occupy the center with pawns in the opening?" Using Nimzowitsch's teachings in his classic My System, I explain the reason why a mobile pawn center is a huge advantage in chess. Importantly, I ask the viewers to answer the "why" question to form deeper understanding. This way of learning material will lead to much longer retention compared to rote memorization of the opening moves.
