As part of the Singapore Book Council's 52nd birthday, four Singapore Literature Prize-winning poets penned poems based on the theme “To-gather”. These are சுபா செந்தில்குமார் (Subha Senthilkumar)'s thoughts about her poem:

"During this pandemic, a silence has befallen us. We too have accepted the silence. Both this virus and the silence that it brings with it spreads from person to person, from country to country. In the end, we have been enslaved by this silence, emptiness, and nothingness."

திளைப்புறும் அமைதி (Together)

சொற்கூட்டில் ரீங்காரமிடும்
மொழியின் அடையை
சிதைத்துவிடுகிறது
எங்கிருந்தோ வரும்
ஒரு நுண்ணுயிரி.

உடைந்து கிளையெங்கும்
வழியும் மௌனத்தை
இலைகளில் ஏந்தும் ஒருவன்
அதை இன்னொருவன்
கரங்களுக்குக் கடத்துகிறான்.

நிசப்தத்தைச் சுவைத்த
அவர்களின் மூச்சுக் காற்று
இன்னொரு மரத்திற்குள் நுழைகிறது.

குரல் தணிந்த ஒரு காட்டின் ஈரம்
இன்னொரு காட்டிற்குள் பரவுகிறது.

அதிமதுர அந்தச் சுவையில்
திளைப்புறும் பெருநிலக்காட்சி
சுருங்கிச் சுருங்கி
ஒரு நுண்ணுயிரியாகிறது!

இப்போது நீங்களும் நானும்
உறைந்திருப்பது
அந்த நுண்ணுயிரியின்
குரலில்தானே?
