The Ohio State Buckeyes and Missouri Tigers kicked off a home-and-home series for the 1997 and 1998 campaigns, their first meeting since 1976 when Missouri upset the no. 2 ranked Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium. This game turned into more of an ass-kicking for the good guys.

Though Corby Jones ran wild early into the game, the Buckeyes tamed the Tigers with a definitive defensive stand, culminating with the infamous hit on Corby Jones by Andy Katzenmoyer [[    • Andy Katzenmoyer blasts Corby Jones -...   ]]. Afterwards, Joe Germaine was subbed in for Stanley Jackson. The rout was then on.

Ohio State won 31-10 in 1997 in Columbia. They won the return leg in Ohio Stadium by a score of 35-14 [[    • 1998: Ohio State v. Missouri (Drive-T...   ]].
