Valley Metro is the largest transit agency in Phoenix Arizona (5th largest city in the United States). In 2008, Valley Metro debuted their first light rail (or tram) line called Metro Rail (train model: Kinki Sharyo and Siemens S700). In 2022, Valley Metro Rail debuted a streetcar line (train model: Brookville Liberty Modern Streetcars) in Tempe Arizona.

Valley Metro is expanding the rail line. In 2024, Metro Rail will split the one line into two. The lines will split/terminate in Downtown Phoenix.
