🌿🌿🌿PLANT ID CORRECTION - the redwoods in the tour are not Dawn Redwoods afterall, but Coast Redwoods, Sequoia sempervirens 😊

Welcome to another fantastic garden tour! This garden is such an inspiration - it is designed by Leslie Davis, a Landscape Designer whom I have always admired for her reverence for plants and their relationship to the greater world: not only to the people they support, but the bugs, the birds, and the critters! Her gardens are an absolute hum of life. The backyard consists of mostly native plants to the Pacific Northwest and Oregon, whereas the front yard is about 75% due to pressure by deer to mix in some more deer-resistant plants. Filmed in late May 2024, in zone 8, Eugene, Oregon.

In the tour, Leslie shares a bit about her gardening philosophy, how she 'extends the season', and tips for making a native plant garden read more legibly like a 'garden' in the more conventional sense. And of course she shares all of her favorite native plants, as well as some non-natives that serve very important purposes, other than adding beauty to the garden.

Leslie is a powerhouse of inspiration and plant wisdom, and I highly recommend checking out her blog, where she shares her extraordinary connection with the plant world in a way that is both profound and informative:

She has also published many articles for Pacific Horticulture, the most recent of which is called "Checkermallow Love—for Beauty, Conservation, and Pollinators". Take an enlightening deep dive through Leslie's eyes into the world of this incredible native flower and the myriad of critters it sustains:

As always, thanks for joining us as we go "Over the Fence"! Stay tuned for our next tour, where we unveil our first Portland garden!
