The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project includes several key tunnels near Mumbai, with the most notable being the Thane Creek undersea tunnel, India's first underwater rail tunnel. Spanning 21 kilometers, including a 7-kilometer section under the creek, this tunnel is a crucial part of the high-speed rail route. Using advanced Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), the tunnel will navigate through complex terrain and seismic zones. Other significant tunnels are planned near Ghansoli (Navi Mumbai) and the Palghar-Virar region, designed to bypass congested urban areas and challenging hilly terrain. These tunnels are built to ensure high-speed train operations, reaching up to 320 km/h, while also addressing seismic safety concerns. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project marks a significant leap in India’s infrastructure, offering fast, efficient travel while navigating through some of the country's most challenging terrains.
