Tiger trail is any way the most deep forest stay i have evwr gone until now. Periyar Tiger Trail is undoubtedly the best forest stay and trekking program offered by the Periyar Tiger Reserve Thekkady.

Periyar tiger trail is available in two packages one night and two night. One night costs 6000 Rupeese per head and two night costs 8400 Rupeese per head. Maximum 6 persons can attend this program and minimum two persons needed. Two night program is conducted only once in a week that is on every Saturday and one night program twice a week that is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Booking can be done only online through the periyartigerreserve.org website.

Periyar Tiger Trail program starts with the check in at Ex-Vayana office near the thekkady check post around 9 AM. You have to fill a form there and wear the leech sox provided by them. Trekking will start around 9:30 AM, the first stretch is 3km till the Thekkady boating starting point. Four guides(including people to cook) and an armed guard. You can take a small break at the forest office, then cross the lake in a bamboo raft to start the main trekking to the tiger trail camp site. It is around 5-6KM wildlife trekking through the deep forests of Periyar tiger reserve, where you have high possibility of sighting different wild animals.(Couple of these guides going ahead of us to cook the food for us).
