This course focuses on pedagogy for English learners’ academic literacy instruction, which is at the core of academic achievement. The course demonstrates intentional pedagogical practices and enhanced learning experiences that guide English learners to succeed in content comprehension and in critical and creative thinking to close achievement gaps. Educators examine the diversity of language learners and the unique and complex needs of this growing population. The course provides practical strategies for differentiating instruction and support for ELLs to meet the rigors of 21st century literacies and academic demands.
