You can make this crochet teddy bear applique just for fun or add it to a finished baby blanket, hat, cardigan or sweater. I added mine to a baby romper, as you’ll see in the video.

The finished size of this applique (excluding the ears) is 2.5” x 2.5” (6.25 x 6.25cm).

You can make it bigger by using a thicker weight yarn and larger hook. Or decrease the size if you use an even lighter weight yarn and smaller hook.

For the yarn, I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 for the head and snout. This yarn is very similar to a #2 sport / 4 ply yarn.

To embroider the nose and eyes, I used Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8, which is more like a #4 worsted / aran yarn.

For the hook, I used a 3mm crochet hook.

This video is a beginner-friendly crochet tutorial, and as long as you know how to work the following stitches, you’ll have no problem in crocheting this cute teddy bear applique:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sk – skip
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
tr - treble
