Storm Isha and Storm Jocelyn have finally passed, it's stopped raining, the temperature is (slightly) warmer and I'm on the other side of a winter bug that has been lingering for the last week!

I took my first visit to my allotment since the storms started, which is over a week! Apart from a few minor disturbances, the garden is looking great. January is smack bang in the middle of winter. It can be a long month that never seems to end! So I took the opportunity to get a few jobs ticked off the list, I harvested some parsnips, which I actually started in plugs and transfered them into my raised beds once they had germinated. They turned out ok....a little wonkey but perfectly OK! I like to experiment and started some off in plugs and used parsnip tape for the others. The parsnip tape ones definitely turned out the best, so that's what I will be doing again this year!

I had a good tidy of the crops in the polytunnel, taking off the lower leaves that have been eaten by little critters over the last month or so. It looks so clean and tidy now!

I'm looking forward to the 2024 growing season....roll on spring!
