I picked up some BMW roof rack cross bars so that I could us a bike rack or snowboard rack from time to time. The install is very straight forward but I will show you how to install them on your BMW. I actually like really like the look of the cross bars. They don’t actually take away from the overall look of the car.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS.

STEP 1: Locate the four roof mounting points.
STEP 2: Install plastic mounting point inserts.
STEP 3: Place cross bars on the roof.
STEP 4: adjust cross bars width to fit your specific roof.
STEP 5: Screw cross bars into roof mounting points.
STEP 6: Install rubber cross bar rail system inserts.
STEP 7: Lock cross bar mounting point covers.

Once the install is complete, start the car and look for any airbag lights or other errors. Then test the function of the M1 and M2 buttons. It the M modes blink rapidly and turn off, do not worry. Take the car for a short drive, and they will return to their normal function. Please note that in some cases, you may need to reset the date and time functions in iDrive.
