Storytelling has been an integral part of humanity’s history since before the written word. From podcasts to TED talks, storytelling has taken on new forms as technology progresses, but its presence is constant. Sharing our stories of joy, pain, success, and loss deeply connects us to other humans in the world. The Brainpower Chronicles is our way of creating community and breaking down the mental health stigma that keeps people silent. No notes. No powerpoint slides. No podium to hide behind. We know that the power of a story can change lives.

NAMI Washington is proud to share storyteller Aislin Percival at the 2019 Brainpower Chronicles. Brainpower Chronicles is real people talking about real life, and mental illness. Aislin has a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Sciences with a minor in psychology from Seattle Pacific University. She is passionate about increasing awareness of mental health conditions in youth. She has worked with adults and youth (13-17) experiencing mental health crises and a host of resulting issues including homelessness, substance abuse and involvement with the juvenile criminal justice system. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, playing with her dog and long-distance running.

Directed by Bill Bernat and Susan Fee, the 2019 Brainpower Chronicles was filmed November 9th, 2019 at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA.
