Mike Heiser is a scholar in the fields of biblical studies and the ancient Near East. He is the Scholar-in-Residence at Logos Bible Software. Mike earned the M.A. and Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. He has also earned an M.A. in Ancient History from the University of Pennsylvania (major fields: Ancient Israel and Egyptology).

Mike can do translation work in roughly a dozen ancient languages, among them Biblical Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, Egyptian hieroglyphs, and Ugaritic cuneiform. His academic specializations include Israelite religion (especially Israel’s divine council), contextualizing biblical theology with Israelite and ancient Near Eastern religion, Jewish binitarianism, biblical languages, and Second Temple period Jewish literature.

Mike has authored over one hundred articles in both scholarly journals and publications designed for the lay person. He is the author of the Faithlife Study Bible notes for the Old Testament books of Genesis through Judges. He is also the creator of several of Logos’ reverse interlinears: King James Version (OT & NT), New King James Version (OT), and NIV (OT).

Mike is also widely known for his theological/paranormal science fiction novels, The Façade and its sequel, The Portent. He is a frequent radio guest and has appeared on many talk shows, including Coast to Coast AM, The Laura Lee Show, Art Bell’s Dark Matter Radio, Future Quake, Radio Liberty, Canary Cry Radio, Skeptico, Line of Fire, Crosswalk, Like Flint Radio, and Extraordinary Intelligence. Mike’s fiction has produced a ministry to people whose worldview is molded by occult, paranormal, and esoteric beliefs.

Mike maintains three blogs that reflect his interests and expertise: The Naked Bible (biblical studies); PaleoBabble (debunking strange beliefs about the ancient world); and UFO Religions (belief in extraterrestrials as a post-modern religion). All three are accessible via his homepage.
