Finding consensus bugs in novel Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) implementations can be challenging, but using the American Fuzzy Lop (AFL) fuzzer can be an effective method. AFL is a popular open-source fuzzer that uses genetic algorithms to generate inputs and identify bugs in software. When applied to novel EVM implementations, AFL can help find consensus bugs that might otherwise go unnoticed.

About the speaker: Daniel studies Computer Science at the Technical University Berlin, currently writing his thesis at the Security in Telecommunications chair. His study is focused on distributed ledgers, privacy and security. He spends his free time researching and exploring new topics related to Ethereum and security.
