Ralph Resch

Ralph Resch is a French painter born in 1965 in Mulhouse. Self-taught, it was in 1983 that he began his work as a painter, drawing direct inspiration from his life as a night owl, from jazz clubs to concert cafés.

In 1985 he became a textile designer at Texunion and took evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Mulhouse. In 1992 he entered the textile designer studio of Paul Hargittai (Hungarian painter and designer) rue de la Paix in Paris. In 1994, influenced by numerous trips to Africa, his painting moved towards abstraction and warm colors. At the same time, he began work on masks of the Fang ethnic group, and on portraits of Africans.

In 1995 he obtained a workshop at the Quai de la gare in Paris. He paints more and more large formats and begins to use a mixed technique (gouache-oil-ink-chalk) made of colors and large flat areas where the figurative is schematized in such a way as to leave complete freedom to the effects of materials (sand, glue, earth)

In the 2000s, he was invited by the French cultural center in Jordan, and exhibited his paintings at the “Royal Gallery of Jordan”. He participates in the open days of the Artists' Workshops in Montreuil, exhibits in the south of France, in Luxembourg and still regularly in Paris
