A 15th-century Indian saint considered to be a combined incarnation of Radha and Krishna Sri Biswambhar Mishra alias Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (Nader Nimai) was born on 18 February 1486 in Navadwip, in present day Nadia district of West Bengal, to Hindu Brahmin Pandit Sri Jagannathmishra and Srimati Sachidevi. According to the Bengali Sanatani`s, in 1407 CE, Falguni, Nimai born on the evening of the full moon, Sinha lagna, during a lunar eclipse. He was a very popular Vaishnava monk and religious guru who appeared in India and a prominent social reformer of the 16th century. He taught all the devotees a new method of worshiping Krishna, which is decorated with joyful songs and dances (Kirtan). This system had a profound influence on Vaishnavism in Bengal. Sri Krishna Chaitanya was a prominent exponent and propagator of Bhaktiyoga Bhagavata philosophy based on the philosophy mentioned in Srimad Bhagavat Purana and Srimad Bhagavad Gita. He especially preaches the Supreme Beings Radha and Krishna. Regardless of castes, Sriharinam, Bhakti and Harekrishna Mahamantra which is mentioned in Srikalisantharan Upanishad and Haraparvati Sangbad of Sripadma Purana. Hare Krishna Mahamantra is considered as the only way to get rid of the material world in this Kali Yuga and go to the transcendental abode. The famous hymn called Shikshataka is also his composition.The closing verses of the Bhagavata Purana describe Krishna's adoption of Love-incarnation (Premavatara) as Chaitanya with Radharani's thought (Bhavakanti). Sribhavishyapurana also has a special mention of Srikrishna Chaitanya. His birthday is celebrated as Gaur purnima every year on Holi festival (Dol Yatra) day in many Indian houses and temples of the entire Gaudiya Vaishnavism of India.
During 16th century,, several poets wrote poems based on the life of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Notable among these are, Sri Krishnadasa Kaviraj Goswami's Sri Chaitanyacaritamrita (the oldest and most authentic biography of Sri Chaitanya), Sri Brindavan Dasa thakur's Srimad Chaitanya Bhagavata, and Sri Lochana Dasa thakur's:- Sri Chaitanya Mangal.
