This time, we’re repairing a wooden mallet that I purchased second-hand.

It seems that the mallet was used for adjusting a plane, which has caused the striking surface to become heavily deformed.

While it’s safe to strike a plane with it, as it doesn’t damage the tool, the mallet itself takes the brunt of the impact.

As a result, it ended up in the condition you saw at the beginning of the video.

This time, I used a lathe to trim the surface, and since I had a new cutting tool, it went relatively smoothly. Without it, I think it would have been difficult because the wood is so hard.

I used a metal cutting tool to trim the striking surface.

I believe the wood is oak, and as expected, it was very tough.

The highlight of this video is what I’m calling the “In the style bagna Cauda wood repair” (haha)

I haven’t seen this type of repair method before, so I’d be happy if you found it useful.

For this repair, I used instant adhesive, but depending on the situation, you could also use epoxy resin, resin, or wood glue. By selecting the appropriate adhesive, you can adjust the hardness of the final finish to match the hardness of the wood.
