Here's a close up of a vintage Marshall JMP 2100 combo amp a friend recently bought. I show how I fixed the amp after it stood for years and include what these amps are like inside and out.

What you will learn:
Is this Marshall amp rare?
Are they worth any money?
What tubes dies the amplifier use?
Is it hard to fix?
What is the amp like to play?
What tubes does this amp use?

I have a friend who recently bought a Marshall amp from a clearance sale... and it is a JMP 2100 combination amp with Celestion G12M original speakers. After finding out it did not work he asked me to take a look so I did!

The amp arrived without any output, the tubes were in 'white out' condition, but the rest looked workable so I looked further. When I removed the chassis I saw the bias capacitors were leaking so I checked the bias... there was none and the meter reached around 185 mA!. So I turned it all off and set to work fixing the amp. Johan Segeborn might do things differently :) But there again this is no jcm800 (JCM 800) - its a Marshall 2100 vintage amplifier and Johan likes those :)

A nice new set of F&T filter capacitors for the heavy stuff and a couple of TAD caps for the bias and quickly enough with some new EL34's the amp came to life. After a good clean off, a couple of 12AX7's and overall setup of the bias this amp is really cool sounding. The speakers are perfect and it looked like it had been sitting around for 30 years! But now it rocks.

Check out this video if you love old Marshall stuff.. like this 76 Marshall there's no real playing but I did turn it on to show the basic LOUD tones :) Its also known as the Marshall 2100 vintage amplifier

A second video shows more, and the amp is being played so you get a better idea of the sounds and there is also in this video introductions to over 15 other amps also included here:    • 20+ Worlds Best Guitar Amplifier Revi...   and in that video I show many of the top tube amps I own currently generally in ways you have not seen them before.

I'm certainly no 'Guitologist' but I do like to dabble, and I certainly do watch his videos... Brad is a very down to earth guy without the bull shh you know what!

I have spent considerable time creating this video entirely at my own expense:
