We visited La Redonda Vineyards in Querétaro, Mexico for the Harvest Festival or Harvest Season. This is when the grapes are crushed!

What is the vintage festival? Harvest consists of harvesting the grapes for the subsequent production of wine. The harvest in Mexico takes place between July and October, giving way to the big celebration parties for the good harvests made by the wine houses. Today we will visit Viñedos La Redonda in Querétaro to stomp the grapes.

Something you have to start your lunch with in a barbecue place is a consommé, it is the cooking juices from the meat.
The Hidalgo-style barbecue is a lamb or sheep barbecue, which is cooked in a hole regularly below ground level. First, the oven is heated for several hours, then the day before, the fresh meat that was prepared from the animal is put in; to later cover it or wrap it completely with maguey or agave leaves. It cooks very slowly, for many hours, and the result is magnificent meat that falls off the bone. One of the best traditional Mexican dishes.

Now it is Viñedos La Redonda, we took on the task of stomping grapes and tasting Mexican wine. The Harvest Festival or Harvest Season is a very popular festivity already in Querétaro.
There are written references to the vintage from more than 5,000 years ago in texts from ancient Egypt. The Phoenicians, the ancient Greeks and the ancient Romans also did something similar to the grape harvest with festivities, dances and celebrations in honor of the gods. It is not for nothing that the word vintage comes from the Latin, which means “to pluck the fruit of the vineyard”.

Some tacos that you have to visit in Querétaro without a doubt are Tacos el Chema in Felipe Angeles. Tacos el Chema opens from 6 in the afternoon and they have a wide variety: suadero, steak, chorizo, tripita and pastor. Be sure to try the half cakes, I ask for them with golden tripe and they are excellent. The pastor volcanoes are also delicious! You can accompany them with roasted onions, nopalitos, radishes and pineapple with jalapeño.
