Get Ready to Embrace and Find Your Inner Zen. Movao Announces Fiona Callanan's Accessible Meditation and 4 Beat Yoga Sessions for Amputees.

In today's fast-paced world, where busy schedules feel overwhelming, prioritizing self-care, mental well-being, and physical health has become increasingly important. Accessible Yoga is a powerful practice for improving work/life balance, offering numerous life-changing benefits for anyone, especially amputees and people with a limb difference. As well as calming your nervous system and providing invaluable tools to learn how to self-regulate and improve focus, accessible Yoga is an excellent addition to any fitness routine, enhancing core balance, flexibility, and coordination - particularly for those wanting to improve mobility and confidence using a prosthesis.

Movao has partnered with Fiona Callanan, an amputee and a qualified Yoga teacher (with over 1000 hours of training and more than that in teaching experience), to offer our community members a series of three accessible 'meditation style,' 4 Beat Yoga classes tailored to amputees and people with limb difference. The core of the 4 Beat Yoga practice is aligning the breath to the slow, regular beat of the music. Focusing the mind and the breath on a 4 Beat count leads to a sharp, single-pointed, and unwavering ability to concentrate. You will find yourself completely immersed in a state of synchronous moving meditation.

The classes will begin with a short, centering, breath-focused, visualized movement meditation before synching the breath to the beat of the music. After this, we will practice accessible ways to move through the flow before synching the breath and movement together. Fiona is an expert in finding accessible ways for all bodies to experience the benefits of the 4 Beat practice, creating a safe and supportive class for all students so that everybody finishes the practice feeling calm and energized. Through these classes, students can experience the incredible benefits of Yoga, and the 4-Beat practice in particular.

Fiona's sessions will be available to Mavao community members starting from April 24th. If you need more information or would like to join one of Fiona's classes (online or in-person), she would love to connect with you on Instagram at
