What a lot we did on our very first visit to Paris, and all in one day! We began with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, scarcely believing that we were actually there and seeing it for real. Then a City Tour by coach, driving along the Champs-Élysées and by famous sites and landmarks, with an excellent commentary by our city guide Valerie. Paris looked lovely, getting all set for the Paris 2024 olympics, and we passed several olympic venues. Next, we drove through picturesque French villages along the river, where Monet and the Impressionist painters lived and drew their inspiration from. Arriving at Versailles, equestrian me was thrilled to see the stable buildings. The real attraction was the grand Palace, which we explored with our Versailles guide. Every inch of Château de Versailles is so incredibly beautiful! It felt surreal looking out at the exquisitely landscaped gardens, standing at the very same windows that Marie Antionette would have gazed out of 200 years ago. Then back to Paris, for a breathtaking cruise down the Seine, with the City of Lights coming alive as the sun went down, finishing off with the dancing sparkle of the Eiffel Tower at 10 p.m.
