I was excited when the Spot X first came out and rushed to REI to buy it. After using it however, I was disappointed in a number of areas and went back to REI and also bought the InReach. While in my return period I decided to test both communicators in a number of situations and decided to make this video highlighting my findings and showing real world differences between both the devices and their respective Satellite networks they operate on. I decided after these tests to ditch the Spot X and haven't looked back since.

Learn real world results comparing the Spot X 2-way communicator with the Garmin InReach Explorer +. Pros and Cons.

Update: The new Spot X now has a bluetooth connection to your phone so many of the features that made the Inreach better from a utilization perceptive they have matched. Good for them. They do still however use the Globalstar network so until something major happens there, the reliability will still win on the Inreach side. But competition is definitely good for both and I look forward to seeing continued changes.
