Kellner performs on a historical Steinway (S/n 28054).
This instrument is a New York Style 3 Concert Grand (Brazilian Rosewood) and was built in the years 1872 and 1873. Grand Style 3 is the Early Large Concert Grand: overstrung, 88 notes, length 8'5'' (257 cm), exposed wrestplank and 17 bass notes. This Steinway still has the original 1871 English mechanics.
The instrument is very similar to the one Franz Liszt bought from Steinway (S/n 27341).
Recorded in concert at Kleines Theater Haar.
