This is the first part of a three part series covering GM's Displacement on Demand, which is also called Active Fuel Management, and later called Dynamic Fuel Management. In this video, I disassemble a 6.2L LT1 and demonstrate the operation of the DoD. I use pressure transducers to show how much pressure is necessary to activate the DoD lifters and I also show in-cylinder pressures while activating and deactivating the lifters. I also share some information on why the DoD is causing symptoms with vehicles when DoD activates at slow speeds. This can ultimately cause transmission issues. I use a home-made vibration analyzer with an oscilloscope to demonstrate this vibration issue during a test drive. Here is the link to the video showing you how to make that sensor yourself:    • Vibration Analyzer for $20

Part two covers the torque converter in these 6L80s and how they are prone to failing. This is the link for part two:    • GM's 6L80 HP Tuning, DoD, and Torque ...

Part three covers the HP Tuners segment of this three-part series. The link to that video is here:    • GM's 6L80 HP Tuning, DoD, and Torque ...
