The 1978 Pacific Hurricane Season was an above average season with 3 Category 5 Hurricanes. This season also included an Atlantic crossover which caused damage to Central America. 1978 was also the year with the historical storm Fico which has the highest Accumulated Cyclone Energy of any Eastern Pacific Hurricane officially.
