Assam lemon is one of the most important crops of Assam and other parts of N.E. region. In addition, various citrus fruits like oranges, tangerines, pomelo form a big part of commercial fruit cultivation undertaken in regions like Tinsukia, Arunachal Pradesh etc. Stem borers, although widely distributed in India are a major pest that attacks a variety of fruit-bearing trees including citrus. The damage is caused by the grub of this beetle can be devastating to the crop entire crop. The grub makes zig-zag galleries beneath the bark and tunnel into the trunk or main stem and as a result of feeding on the internal tissues, the attacked branches die and wither away.
