NON-TRADITIONAL BACKGROUNDS AND THE LEGAL PROFESSION

This week I will be sharing a video a day with the aim of showing aspiring paralegals, solicitors, and barristers how others before them have made it into the profession!

Today's video is by Samuel Harkness (A current Paralegal at Clarke Willmott)

Sam explains the importance of schemes such as Pathways to Law and The Sutton Trust in his journey through university! Sam outlines the importance of being realistic through your university journey and taking time during university or afterwards to prepare yourself for the legal profession.

2 pieces of advice from Sam:

1. "It's more than ok if you graduate without a Training Contract in place".

2. "If you are from a non-traditional background, take the opportunity to make yourself stand out and take time to invest in yourself a bit more."

Thank you Sam for agreeing to be part of the project!
If, after watching the video you have any questions for myself or Sam, feel free to reach out! I know Sam is very open to supporting aspiring solicitors and paralegals!

Please watch and leave comments with any questions you may have and share so as many people as possible can benefit from this project!
