This adult diamondback was nestled perfectly beneath that small palmetto bush getting some late evening sun. Walking with the sun in my face I didn't see him until within 7-8 feet. Spent the prior three hours looking for rattlers with no luck, so I was a bit tired and discouraged by this point, but he definitely made the hike worthwhile in the end. Immediately after I saw him he went for the bushes without a single rattle.
