When we hear the term hidden gems, it automatically reminds us of something unexplored and something we haven't had the chance to see or visit before, well, Travnik is exactly that! The mountain gem you’ve never heard of, or at least most of you haven't heard :) )

Nestled in the lush, mountainous region of central Bosnia, Travnik is a picturesque town that offers a blend of rich history, stunning landscapes, and a sense of timeless serenity. Known as the "Town of Viziers," Travnik once served as the capital of the Bosnian Eyalet during the Ottoman Empire. Travnik’s historical importance is palpable as soon as you arrive. The town's Old Town Fortress (Stari Grad), perched on a hill, is a must-visit. Sulejmanija Mosque, also known as the Colored Mosque, is another testament to the town's rich Ottoman heritage. Its striking multi-colored façade makes it one of the most unique mosques in Bosnia and an architectural highlight for any visitor. One of the town’s most enchanting features is the Plava Voda (Blue Water), a small river that flows through Travnik, surrounded by charming cafés and restaurants where you can relax with the gentle sound of running water in the background. Travnik is also the birthplace of Ivo Andrić, the Nobel Prize-winning author of The Bridge on the Drina. You can visit his childhood home, now a museum dedicated to his life and work.
