Walk around the island village, Seto Inland Sea, Tangashima Nishijima (Hyogo Prefecture) / A rough and shaved island

Tanga Island
An island in Harima Nada, 18km southwest of Himeji City, where many quarrying workshops, which are the main industry of the Ieshima Islands, are located. Most of the island is made of granite, and the quarrying industry has been active since ancient times, and the deeply chopped mountains give the venue a strange landscape. In the summer, it is crowded with sea bathers from Keihanshin. A highland village trace (Oyama Shrine ruins) of the Yayoi period was discovered near an altitude of 200 m on the island, and relics such as knife-shaped stone tools, Yayoi pottery, Sue pottery, Haji pottery, and medieval pottery from the Paleolithic period have been excavated. .. It is said that a male deer of the two males and females swam in the sea to reach Ieshima (near Tanga Island) in the olden days, and it is said to be the origin of the place name of "Tanga Island". There is a Mega Station district in Shikamaku, Himeji City on the mainland side. (See "Shimadas")

Nishijima
The largest island in the Ieshima Islands, located in Harima Nada, 18km southwest of Himeji City. Relics from the Paleolithic period to the Yayoi period have been excavated at the Odomo and Martoba archaeological sites on the island. At the end of the Meiji era, the gunpowder storage of the former Army was set up. In 1945, there was a big fire that burned down most of the island. It is made of rhyolite rock and is now a quarrying island like Tanga Island, with houses such as quarryers scattered around the workshop. There is an outdoor activity facility (Ieshima Nature Center) in the prefecture. (See "Shimadas")
