Bogurodzica (Madre de Dios) es el himno religioso polaco más antiguo. Su autoría es atribuida a San Adalberto de Praga, obispo y mártir del siglo X. Era empleado como canto de guerra por las tropas polaco-lituanas antes de sus batallas, como en Grunwald (1410) contra los teutones, o en Varna (1444) y Viena (1683) contra los turcos. También acompañó las ceremonias de coronación de los primeros Reyes Jagellones como himno religioso y patriótico, símbolo de la unión entre el Altar y el Trono.

Bogurodzica (Mother of God) is the oldest Polish religious hymn. Its authorship is attributed to Saint Adalbert of Prague, bishop and martyr of the 10th century. It was used as a war chant by the Polish-Lithuanian troops before their battles, as in Grunwald (1410) against the Teutons or in Varna (1444) and Vienna (1683) against the Turks. It also accompanied the coronation ceremonies of the first Jagiellon Kings as a religious and patriotic hymn, a symbol of the union between the Altar and the Throne.
