Hi Friends !!! Welcome back to my channel.
This Video takes you to a less traveled off beat place of interest near Bolpur Shantiniketan, West Bengal. This place is named Amkhoi Wood Fossil Park Eco Tourism Project, and is being developed by the State Forest Department, Birbhum Division,Government of West Bengal and is expected to be completed within one year. As the name suggests Wood Fossil Park houses many samples of fossilized wood nearly 15-20 million years old which were recovered during excavation of ponds in the nearby Amkhoi Village, hence the name. When completed, this will be only one of its kind in the State of WB. Situated in the Ilambazar forest, this place is at a short distance of 16 KM from Bolpur town.
It is so nice to see that there is sincere effort from the Government to preserve the fossils.After completion this place is sure to draw many tourists and it will be a veritable source of knowledge for students from the streams of geology, environmental science and zoology.
