This video shows a new micro-hydro Pelton turbine setup that I've just finished building to provide a reliable source of electricity deep in a slate mine.
The machine is connected to a 1000m long, 25mm diameter hose pipe that drops about 65m over it's length. Although the static pressure is good, the tiny pipe does greatly limit the flow-rate but even so the system does generate enough power for its intended application.
The system is durable and strong but still portable and would suit applications such as off-grid living in remote homes where suitable water is available. It is capable of providing 800 watts of continuous power.
