Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the way a person thinks or acts. This condition results in a patient suffering from hallucinations and or bizarre delusions. It also makes it difficult for the patient to distinguish between his own thoughts or ideas & the reality.

Recipes based on the above food groups:

Recipe 1: Oats

1. Beat 2 eggs in a bowl
2. Add 2 tbsp of oats in it
3. Then add 1 chopped tomato and ½ chopped onion to it
4. Also add 1 chopped green chilli
5. Add salt to taste and mix well
6. Pour it on a non stick vessel
7. Cook this mixture till it is done

You can have this for breakfast



Recipe 2: Tuna

1. In small bowl, put 2 tablespoons orange juice
2. Now add 1 tsp cornstarch and whisk it well
3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in nonstick vessel
4. Add 1 chopped onion in it
5. Add 2 tbsp of grated ginger in it
6. Also add 2 tbsp minced lemongrass
7. Add 1 crushed dry red pepper
8. Saute this for about 3 min
9. Now add ¾ cup of orange juice in it
10. Add ¼ cup vegetable or chicken stock in it
11. Also add 1 tbsp soya sauce in this mixture and stir, let it simmer for 4-5 min
12. Now add the orange juice and cornstarch mixture to the gravy
13. Let it boil for a minute
14. Remove from the heat
15. Season it with some salt and pepper to taste
16. Stir and rest aside
17. Place a tuna steak on a plate
18. Apply some salt on both the sides
19. Now brush the tuna with olive oil on both the sides
20. Heat 1 tbsp sunflower oil in a fry pan
21. Place the tuna on it
22. Fry it on both sides till it is cooked and turns brown
23. Remove and add the fried tuna to the orange sauce
24. Let it simmer for 2-3 min
25. Serve hot

Tips:

• It’s advisable to have a gluten free diet. Avoid processed wheat,
rye or barley
• Also try to avoid milk and milk products as they can aggravate
the symptoms
• It is best not to eat sugary foods as they can cause fluctuation in
the blood sugars level & result in mood swings
