My ‘how to’ for homemade floating baskets for your koi pond. Koi are notorious for rooting around in plants, and making a mess. Some koi purest say that you shouldn’t have plants in with koi but to me the water garden aspect is almost as cool as the fish. Although I sometimes use coconut fiber in these baskets I’ve found that most water plants, bog plants and floating plants do quite well hydroponically. As long as the roots can grab into the nylon netting they can keep from being pulled out of the baskets by the curious Koi.
