Even before deciding to come and live in Canada, we were researching which cities caught our attention. The most surprising thing we found in our search was realizing that in the province of British Columbia, hard drugs like Fentanyl and heroin were completely decriminalized. We didn't find much information about it, and we hoped that with an involved government, it was a completely controlled scenario, perhaps the ideal scenario where people consumed in a responsible manner.

Upon arrival, we saw that the zombies or 'bent' people (as we sometimes call them) multiply every day. They are aggressive, injured, and have no control over their bodies. We understood that we were officially in the city of drugs in Canada.

Venturing out into the city was pure adrenaline. Constant ambulances and patrols, visiting Chinatown to find Hastings and discovering the hundreds of people who share amidst their addiction, having a place near home called a safe injection site, made us feel this reality in the most direct way possible.
