Yusufeli Dam is one of the five dams located on the Çoruh River within the borders of Artvin. Once operational, it will fully submerge parts of 18 settlements, while partially affecting the rest. Yusufeli town center is among the areas that will be submerged due to the ongoing construction of the dam.

The foundation of the facility, which will be Turkey's tallest dam, was laid in 2012. Since then, construction in Yusufeli has continued in addition to the dam. A new settlement and a connecting road project are being built to relocate the submerged Yusufeli. Since 2020, the relocation date has been postponed three times, and Yusufeli has been living under the shadow of viaduct piers for some time.

The people of Yusufeli describe the ongoing uncertainties they have faced since the project was announced, the challenges, economic hardships, and why they do not want to be displaced.
