Creation and Materials: The Rock Garden covers an area of approximately 40 acres (16 hectares) and is entirely constructed from industrial, home waste, and discarded items. These materials include items like bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks, electrical waste, and broken pipes.
Layout and Features:
The garden is situated near Sukhna Lake and consists of man-made interlinked waterfalls.
It features sculptures made from recycled ceramic, which are placed along walled paths.
The sculptures depict various forms, including dancers, musicians, and animals.
Nek Chand’s vision for the garden was inspired by a fantasy of a Lost Kingdom.
There are 14 different chambers, each with its own unique design and theme.
During the Teej festival, the Rock Garden takes on a festive look and becomes a special attraction for tourists.
Dolls Museum: Inside the Rock Garden, there is a Dolls Museum that houses 200 rag dolls made from waste cloth. These dolls were crafted by Nek Chand himself in the 1970s.
