Hey fellow adventure-seekers! Kathy and Scott here, back with another exhilarating journey through the heart of Guatemala. This time, we’re swapping the typical wheels for something a bit more… nautical. Join us as we hop on a private ferry to explore the enchanting towns of San Marco and San Juan del Lago on Lake Atitlán. And, as always, we’re bringing you along for the ride!

First stop: San Marco’s Main Walking Street. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to walk through a vibrant maze of colorful stalls, aromatic food stands, and smiling locals, you’re in for a treat. We’ll guide you through the bustling main walking street, pointing out all the hidden gems and must-see spots. It’s like a guided tour, but with more laughs and less fanny packs.

Next, we sail over to San Juan del Lago, where the real adventure begins. Our first destination? Galeria San José, an art gallery bursting with creativity and local talent. We chat with artists, and soak in the incredible artwork.

Feeling a bit peckish? Perfect timing, because our next stop is the Xocolatl artisan chocolate factory. Here, we dive into the sweet world of Guatemalan chocolate – tasting, learning, and (let’s be honest) indulging. It’s a chocolate lover’s paradise, and we’re practically Willy Wonka.

But wait, there’s more! We also visit Abeja Obrera, a bee cooperative that’s as sweet as honey. We learn about the bees’ crucial role in the ecosystem and get a firsthand look at how the locals harvest honey. Spoiler: it involves a lot of buzzing.

Finally, we arrive at Kathy’s favorite stop: the Artesanía Maya Women’s Weaving Cooperative. If you’ve ever seen Kathy’s eyes light up at the sight of fabric, you’ll understand why this place is her personal Disneyland. The women here create stunning textiles using traditional techniques, and Kathy can’t wait to share her passion for these beautiful creations with you.
