The P488-billion Metro Manila Subway Project is about 15% complete, according to the Department of Transportation.

The project is the country's first ever underground rail system and will stretch from Valenzuela City to Paranaque City.

ABS-CBN News was able to visit the depot last July 9 and the project's 2 tunnel boring machines have since excavated some 1.3 kilometers of land towards the first station in East Valenzuela.

The tunnel boring machines are expected to reach the second station at the Quirino Highway in Quezon City by August.

The Metro Manila Subway Project is expected to be fully operational by 2029.
